In the near future, we might have a synthetic version of antibiotics that will be able to fight serious infections like MRSA and even custom pharmaceuticals that will be used to treat diseases like advanced prostate cancer.

One of the chemists from the New York University team, Kent Kirshenbaum, said that they are trying to create versions of molecules that will mimic functions, shapes, and properties of natural proteins. Kirshenbaum also added that they already managed to create a building block approach to create these synthetic proteins in an exceptionally reliable way.

The main goal they are trying to reach through biomimetic chemistry is to create a reliable way of building synthetic version proteins that can be further put to use at the industrial scale.
